Submitting to Orang Utan ComicsWe want YOUR stories for FTL!Orang Utan Comics are now accepting submissions of 6-8 page stories for inclusion in future issues of our critically acclaimed anthology series FTL. These need to be COMPLETE strips, with full colour artwork and lettering (although we may redo your lettering, so don’t worry if lettering isn’t your forte). All stories are welcome, in any genre, and while adult themes are ok, please refrain from including gratuitous sex and violence, as this will result in your submission being rejected. Please note that we do not pay people for publishing their stories in FTL, all profits from FTL go towards funding future issues of FTL, paying for convention appearances and promotion. You will, however, retain full rights to your story, and will be free to publish it in future elsewhere. Please also note that we DO NOT accept submissions of scripts without artwork. Sorry, but we simply don’t have the time to sit and read scripts, and all scripts received will be deleted without reading them. Please send your completed strips to our Managing Editor, Ian Sharman, at ian@orangutancomics.com and include “FTL Submission” in the subject header of your email. We are still, of course, looking for artists for our other projects, so see below for our standard artists submission guidelines. Artists Orang Utan Comics is currently looking for pencillers, inkers and colourists for our various projects, and our Studio. Pencillers If you are interested in becoming part of the Orang Utan Comics team, please send an email with attached sequential artwork to Ian Sharman. Inkers Whilst there is an increasing shift in the industry towards colouring over un-inked pencils, we at Orang Utan Comics believe that inking is an essential part of the creative process of making a comic, and as such we encourage inkers to submit to us. Colourists If you are interested in becoming part of the Orang Utan Comics team, please send an email with attached colouring samples to Ian Sharman. *Then shalt thou send us five samples, no more, no less. Five shall be the number thou shalt send, and the number of the sending shall be five. Six shalt thou not send, neither send thou four, excepting that thou then proceed to five. Seven is right out. Once the number five, being the fifth number, be reached, then sendest thou thy Holy Art Submissions of
- Ian Sharman, Managing Editor of Orang Utan Comics Studio Orang Utan Comics is all about working together as a team to get greater exposure and to get our best work into print and as such we DO NOT pay page rates. In fact, the vast majority of small to medium sized publishers do not pay page rates either. Like them all of our artists and writers recieve a percentage share of any profits for the comics they contribute to. Do not give up the day job just yet, but please do still apply if you would like to be part of a friendly, talented team with a bright future. However, work conducted on behalf of 3rd parties through Orang Utan Comics will be undertaken with an agreed fee or exposure, so please do send us your work. |
